Hi, I’m Flora Huizar, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) proudly serving the Wichita Falls community through Flourish Behavioral Health. Growing up in a supportive family and embracing my Hispanic heritage, I’ve always been drawn to helping others navigate their mental health journeys.

 

I began my career in mental health at North Texas State Hospital and later worked in outpatient intensive services at Helen Farabee MHMR, supporting patients at high risk of hospitalization and connecting them with essential resources. I also worked as an Intensive Care Unit Nurse, providing critical care and emotional support to patients and their families during some of their most difficult moments. These experiences allowed me to gain firsthand insight into how mental health challenges affect people of all ages and backgrounds. 

 

Through both inpatient and outpatient work, I recognized the need for accessible, compassionate mental health care that supports not only physical health but emotional and social well-being. What I find most fulfilling is building connections with patients across all stages of life, understanding each person’s unique challenges, and providing care with empathy, respect, and a focus on long-term wellness.
